A self drive tour is a great way to see New Zealand. You choose if you would like to stay on the tourist trail, or get off the beaten track and into the river valleys, to the lakes and mountains, or down to the coastline. You can get out into homes to meet real New Zealand families. Make your own schedule, and take your time driving through our diverse and beautiful scenery. There are many opportunities to pull off the road along the way, maybe for a walk in the native forest, a game of golf, a swim, or perhaps to try your luck at fishing. There are also some fascinating leisure, historic and cultural attractions throughout New Zealand that you may wish to see or participate in. Or, enjoy some of the many vineyard restaurants featuring our delicious fine wines and delicious Pacific Rim cuisine. New Zealand has many events during the year that may be of interest to visitors. Events such as the Wild Foods Festival on the West Coast of the South Island, or the Agricultural Field Days at Mystery Creek near Hamilton. We will notify you of these if they fit into your schedule. You can visit New Zealand at any time of the year. However keep in mind that summer runs from December - March, and winter is generally considered to be May - September. Pick the season to best suit your interests. |
